History and politics is alive in Washington DC. There is so much to see and do. Prepare to walk a lot, and take public transit. Washington DC has one of the best public transit systems I have experienced in a big city. It was easy to stay in Virginia, and take the subway into the city center every day. We saved money and did not use up much time.
